More tips for using your new access token

When using your new access control token on Otaniemi campus, please take the following spesific factors into account.

The new access control token readers use a stronger encryption than the previous devices, so they could react a little bit slower. Please find some useful tips for successful using the new access token:

  1. Act calm. The access token won't react if you just blink it, the reader should really have time to read it.
  2. The token needs to be held close to the reader, even touching it. Please note that if there are buttons on the reader, do not push them accidently. Wait the beep sound.
  3. Colour of light around the reader will tell you whether the token was read successfully and whether you have an access right to the door in question.

We have regularly development discussions with the access control hardware and software providers to make smoother user experience for all Aalto campus users. Also the reader devices' software is updated regularly.

If you have any issues with the new access control tokens, please contact [email protected] ([email protected]) or [email protected]. Additionally, if you notice that the token's serial number is not clearly visible (die-cut or laser engraved as pictured) or if the token does not work reliably, you can return the token to the lobby service desk and request a new one.
