TiLA! – a new home for creativity in Otaniemi
A new community workspace, TiLA!, opened in summer 2026 on the Aalto University campus, bringing together freelancers, entrepreneurs, artists, students, and researchers from the creative industries. The space connects Aalto University’s excellence in research, art and entrepreneurship with the City of Espoo’s entrepreneurship and cultural ecosystem.
In addition to workspaces, Tila offers services and a community where people learn together and coach one another. The community has access to Business Espoo’s entrepreneurship and business development services, as well as Aalto University’s entrepreneurship services. There is mentoring, clinics and peer-learning sessions tackling practical challenges ranging from pricing to sales, and from funding to visibility.
Boosting agency in the creative industries
Tila encourages experimentation, getting hands-on, sketching, testing, and iterating so that ideas can develop into prototypes, pilots, and businesses. Community members can gather feedback on their concepts, and the multidisciplinary network of creative professionals opens doors to new opportunities.
At Vuorimiehentie 2, the Tila complex is neighboured by Space 21, where members of the Aalto community can book facilities to realise their ideas or projects. The Tila community can, by separate agreement, make use of the opportunities offered by Space 21’s facilities and Aalto’s teaching and research infrastructure, such as the FabLab and Aalto Design Factory.
