Construction work at Otakaari 8 started

Renovation work at Otakaari 8 began at the end of January 2026.
Otakaari 8

A building designed by Alvar Aalto at Otakaari 8, also known as Sähkömiehentie 1, has remained unused for an extended period. The building will be renovated for university use and storage facilities during spring 2026.

The renovation will focus mainly on interior spaces, but will also include work on windows, the roof, and limited sections of the façade.

The construction work is not expected to significantly affect traffic arrangements in the surrounding area. If streets are partially or fully closed, this will be communicated separately. Any other potential disruptions will also be announced in advance.

The project is expected to be completed in early summer 2026.
