We will celebrate WWF’s Earth Hour week with the "Sustainable Campus Creating Hope" event on Thursday, 26 March. The event will begin with a morning smoothie and coffee at 8.45 in Marsio, room 3448. The event is open to everyone, but due to limited space and catering, please remember to register by 12 March.

Hope creates a virtuous circle of good.

Program starting at 9.00:

  • Current updates from the ACRE sustainable campus / Satu Kankaala, Head of Business Development and Sustainability
  • Keynote speakers (also participating in the Laboratory of Hope exhibition): Ashish Thapliyal, PhD researcher from Aalto University, and psychologist Merita Petäjä. Discussion and audience questions.
  • Hope Lab tour in Marsio: this exhibition is full of hope! Members of Aalto from various fields will share what hope means to them and how they contribute to building a more hopeful society through areas such as equitable fashion, artificial intelligence, or new quantum materials. NOTE! We will organize two tours if needed, at 10:00 and 10:45. Each tour can accommodate 20 people.

The event will be held in English.

Participation in the event is limited. Binding registrations are required by March 12, 2026.

Warm welcome! The event is organized by the Sustainable Campus Team.

P.S. Read more about the international Earth Hour campaign on WWF's website. Aalto and ACRE will also turn off the lights in campus buildings on the evening of March 28.
